Marc Kotz
attended International Folk Dance gatherings with his family as he grew up on Bainbridge Island, WA. At age 7, he began studying ballet, then contemporary and improvisational dance, eventually moving to New York City and dancing around the world.

His dance career includes teaching and choreographing multiple dance styles, and performing with baroque and post-modern dance companies, the Hartford Ballet and Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, as well as creating more than 50 dance works and directing and choreographing a dozen stage productions. He earned a MFA in Dance & Choreography as an Iowa Arts Fellow from the University of Iowa in 1992 and has taught at numerous colleges and universities since.

Marc founded “Born 2 Move Movement Adventures, LLC” in 2008 (www.born2move.org), through which he teaches world dance, cultures, and traditions via live interactive distance learning programs. Marc has been practicing and teaching yoga since 2005, and evolving his own yoga curriculum, “Nature Biome Yoga Adventures “. Marc led the “Yoga At The Pond” segment of this series at the 2024 and 2025 DCFFs, and this year he offers the “Butterfly Life-Cycle” segment (https://www.cilc.org/ContentProvider/Program.aspx?id=10263).
