Nina Lusterman began folk dancing as a child, and then started dancing more seriously at Michael and Mary Ann Herman's teenage session in NYC in the late '60s. She continued to folk dance through college, and then in southern California and Madison, WI, before moving to Chicago in 1978. In Chicago, Nina danced with several performing groups, including Eastern European, International, and Hungarian groups. After taking a long break from dancing, Nina returned to dancing and currently dances 3-4 times a week, including co-leading and teaching at Evanston Monday Night Folk Dancers (EMNFD) and being part of the teaching team at Chicago Israeli Dance.

Now that Nina is retired, much of her time is focused on folk dance related activities, including attending dance sessions and numerous camps, co-running EMNFD, being a board member of Mainewoods Dance Camp, and committee member of June Camp and Machol Merkaz Israeli Dance Camp. Being able to focus her energy towards dance-related activities and spending time with dance friends has been a joy.
