Mark Kanazawa did his first Salty Dog Rag at summer camp when he was thirteen years old and then took up folk dancing in a big way at Earlham College starting in 1972. Since then, he has danced in Massachusetts, California, Illinois, Washington DC, and most recently, Minneapolis, where he dances regularly at Tapestry Folkdance Center. He has attended various folkdance camps and workshops, including Kolo Festival in California, June Camp, Tapestry, and SNOPA. He teaches folk dancing regularly at Tapestry and has previously taught folk dancing for various groups and workshops at Earlham, Amherst, Stanford, Omaha, SNOPA, and Door County Folk Festival.
