Michael Goff says: Caught me! In 2007, I attended a live music dance party hosted by Paul Collins. Two Serbian bands were playing. I had been aware of ethnic dance since 1974. On my home from work, I happened to walk by an outdoor summer dance session in the UChicago Ida Noyes parking lot. I watched for a few minutes. I thought, “Huh. That’s different.”

Turns out the session was run by Paul Collins. Further exposure to ethnic dancing came later through my wife Nina who danced. My job then was to take care of our daughter, while Nina danced. But it wasn’t until the event in 2007 when something clicked. I loved the Serbian music, and one could dance to it! I started dancing twice each week on Monday in Evanston and Friday at Paul’s. Learning dances to the different types of ethnic music was a challenge. But now I love it. Thanks Paul!
