Remembrances of Warren Kubitschek and Nancy Yugo

April 2011 was a very sad month as we lost two very wonderful people who were key members of the International Folk Dance and Door County Folk Festival communities.

To celebrate the lives of Warren Kubitschek and Nancy Yugo, DCFF will offer moments of silence and time for remembrances at the Friday and Saturday outdoor dinner events – see below:

Early Friday morning, April 8, 2011, our dear Nancy Yugo advanced to the next episode of her journey, a change she explicitly accepted.  Always pursuing a spiritual quest, Nancy expressed quiet but firm confidence that she would be moving on to another place, where she hopes to resume dancing and gardening as soon as conveniently possible.  She passed peacefully and gently, in comfort among family and friends offering song, music, and verse. At the very end, she allowed me the privilege of sharing all the subtle shadings of her gradual shift from here to there. Her request for a fully green burial was honored Saturday in perfect spring weather. She is resting among oak trees high on the side of a magnificent valley in a nature preserve southwest of Madison, facing the westering sun.  The deer will visit at night to pay their respects and enjoy the cut flowers. Later in the spring, when the season sweetens, there will be an outdoor memorial gathering, as she requested.  Nancy is at peace, and so may we be. -- Michael Kuharski.
